Bitty Girl -- Day 330

Over 5 years ago I captured an image of my oldest niece playing on the tire swing. Today her little sister was wearing the same knitted skirt that Aunt Amber made for them. The tire swing is no longer hanging or we would have taken a picture there. It's so fun to see this skirt still being loved.

Empty Bowls -- Day 323

Today I heard about a fund raiser that piqued my interest. Lots of Potters had made lots of bowls, none of them the same, and all were being sold to raise money for local shelters that provide food for the hungry. I love unique hand thrown pottery! And what a better way to get a bowl than by donating to feeding the hungry, so, I headed to Phoenix Fired Art after work. At the event there were many food vendors from local restaurants with lots of different kinds of soup. All I had to do was choose a bowl (not an easy task) donate my money, and eat soup. It was great! I'll have to feature my bowls (I ended up with two favorites. :)) in upcoming photos. :)

Orange Soda -- Day 317

The kids thought Orange Soda was a great accompaniment to their afternoon of leaf play. :) It took me a while to get this photo because they kept taking the cans to get another sip.

PS Don't worry folks, I haven't entirely abandoned the blog. Still snappin' away. I'll get caught up here in a few days. :)

Leaf Pit -- Day 315

Today, David filled their unused chicken coop with leaves. Definitely a fun way to enjoy the leaves when it was too windy to make a good pile.

Rainbow -- Day 309

I usually take the main highway when driving home from work, but tonight, because it was kinda stormy, I asked God which way I should go, thinking it might be safer to drive the slower two lane highway. I didn't really think much on it, but turned onto Gateway and headed toward Joplin. As I went I noticed the storm breaking up in the west and the sun starting to peek out. By the time I got almost to Joplin the sun was really starting to shine through and changing all the trees to copper while the sky to the east remained stormy looking. I continued to drive wondering about the possibility of a rainbow. Just as the sun was really shining out I looked to my right to see if I could see a rainbow. Nothing. Instead I saw a pretty red barn off to the right that was glowing with the copper trees as a backdrop. Usually when I drive down the road and see a photo op, my decision making ability doesn't kick in fast enough to actually convince me to stop and take a photo and there never seems to be a good stopping spot, but tonight just seconds after noticing the barn I saw a road to pull off on (I don't like stopping on the shoulder of a busy road.) and just as I turned onto that road there before me I could see the double rainbow. I don't know why I didn't see it when I first looked, but there it was in all it's beauty. I knew why God had nudged me to go that way. If I'd been on the big 4 lane highway, I would have missed it!
