Volley Ball -- Day 301

We went on a family walk this Sunday afternoon. Ended up at the volleyball  nets at a park near home. :) I'm not into volleyball, but enjoyed taking pictures of some of my siblings and dad playing a game. Here Luke is getting into it and and it looks like Daniel is getting ready on the other side of the net. :)

Maple Leaf Memorial -- Day 300

Today was the second anniversary of the death of my cousin, Ginny. When her mom died in '96 we planted a red maple tree in our family cemetary, and when Ginny died, we planted a second red maple. Today I wanted to get pictures of the maples so Amber, Hannah and I headed out to our grandparents house and walked out to the back of their land to visit the cemetery. Aunt Michelle's tree was still green with only a few leaves that were beginning to change. Usually it is flaming red at this time of year. Ginny's tree was also mostly green, but was more noticeably changing color. This photo is a combination of two photos I took today. One of the prettiest leaf on Ginny's tree and Ginny's head stone. I wanted to somehow remember her in my photo for today, so this is my memorial to my dear sweet cousin who is home in Heaven with God and her mom. :) I also think it is interesting that today is the 300th day of my project and it is 10/30/10.

Water Coolers -- Day 299

Tonight we went to an English Country Dance. I wanted to get a great shot of someone dancing, but just couldn't capture the right moment. Then during the last dance I was wandering along and noticed for the first time the water table. I smiled and decided it would definitely make a good photo for the day. This shot portrays a full night of dancing. You can see the families in the background as they energetically dance the Posties Jig, but the main subject of this image  shows where those same people will be heading when the dance is done. To the water coolers! :)

Stars and Stripes -- Day 298 -- Winner of Viewer's Choice Poll

Yesterday, I mentioned a window, today I decided to revisit it. :) It's not cheating to take a photo over again is it? :D I took a look at yesterday's photos and really liked the window shot I got, but I had taken it yesterday. I couldn't post it for today. I thought about my problem. I checked the time, I took yesterday's window photo at 5:58pm it was now 6:01pm. If I was going to take the window picture again, I'd have to get to it or the sun would be gone. I grabbed the camera and went to the neighbor's house. I took a few shots like the one I got yesterday, then I noticed the flag on top of the light post. :) Yay, something new that I hadn't noticed yesterday! So, the flag became the subject of my "window" picture and I didn't have to feel guilty about recreating the same image. :) Yesterday's shot of the window alone was better than today's anyway. :D

Basketball -- Day 297

Today was another one of those days, when I got to the end and didn't have a picture or any idea for a picture. I took my camera outside as the sun was getting lower and lower. I found a window to photograph, and my brother's matchbox cars in the garden, and my brother came out and volunteered to play basketball for me. :) I chose this one of Luke shooting a basket, because it was unique when compared to the pictures I've been posting lately. I need more people shots. :)

LOVE -- Day 296

I saw an idea sort of like this online, so I thought I'd try my own version. I only had 4 matching pencils available and they were pink so I decided to write the four letter word that goes with pink, "LOVE." :) I may have to use this for a card in the future.

Signed Art -- Day 295

Today I got out my paint markers to sign a few prints. I wasn't thinking I'd use this shot for my photo of the day, but I like how it turned out. :)

Tiny Red Tart Apple -- Day 294

There is a cute little tree at church, with these cute little tart apples on it. I thought they were crabapples at first, but something about them doesn't look quite the same as crab apples. Whatever kind they are they made for a good picture. And all the little kids at church had fun eating them. :D

To Her Groom -- Day 293

A few months ago I posted a photo of Jake and Hannah on the day of their engagement. Today I got to witness their marriage. :) Here Hannah is on her way to meet her groom.
It was a beautiful wedding that honored God and his design for marriage.

Neapolitan Slice -- Day 292

Today I spent an hour or so photographing Abbie at her farmer's market job. She goes once a week to help sell German pastries. This is probably one of the prettiest of the pastries and all the once I've tried taste wonderful. :D

Blueberries??? -- Day 291

Today I took Emelyn and Ellise on a picnic to "The Hundred Acre Wood" (which is what we have dubbed the wooded area a few blocks from their house). While we were doing some exploring we came across some spindly trees with what looked like blueberries growing on them. There weren't large clusters, just random berries here and there. I found it intriguing and of course I took a picture. :) Don't worry, we didn't eat any, but if anyone knows anything about them please let me know. If I had some solid evidence that we wouldn't die if we ate them, I'd go try them. :)

Red Maple -- Day 290 -- Winner of Viewer's Choice Poll

Today I revisited the red maple down the road (We used to have two of these in our yard, but they got taken out by the electric company the summer before last). Yesterday the sky was overcast so I didn't get any good shots of the tree, which is the reason I went back today. The sun was perfect and I got lots of good shots. I took some more close-ups of the leaves that I wanted to post, but I chose this one since I posted a leaf yesterday.

Maple Leaf -- Day 289 -- Winner of Viewer's Choice Poll

The trees are changing! I love Red Maple trees. I wouldn't mind having a driveway lined with them some day. :)

Praying Mantis -- Day 288

Bug eyes! Daniel found this huge praying mantis (to bad you can't tell the size from this photo). It was the biggest I'd ever seen.

Sail Away -- Day 287

Our bathroom has been redecorated in Sailboats. It looks great and now I have new little knick knacks to photograph. :) There's just something about sailboats that seem so fresh and clean and adventurous. And I love the colors too. I've always liked nautical, so you can guess that I like the new bathroom decor.

My Canon -- Day 286

Today, I did some searching online for some photo ideas. Found lots of cool ideas, one of which was to get a shot of my hands holding my camera. I used my Canon G5 on a tripod to take the shot. The flip out and twist LCD came in handy for composing the shot. Sometimes I miss using my old G5. I'm going to have to use it more often. :) I used Dynamic Photo HDR to edit this shot even though I didn't stack several images, so it isn't a true HDR.

Cookies! -- Day 285

We ran out of cookies at Pizza Night! But that only meant we would get to make more and eat them fresh from the oven. :) All the little girls joined in the baking and had a great time. Coryaunna was proud to get to show off the pan of pre-baked cookies. :)

Orange Pyracantha -- Day 284

I took this photo in my neighbor's garden. There is always something colorful to take a picture of over there. I was glad that Bob was outside working so I could find out what this bush/tree was called. :)

You Are On Camera -- Day 283

Yep you sure are, on camera. :) I drive past this sign on Wednesdays on my way to get eggs at a local farm. I've been wanting to stop and get a shot of it since the beginning of my photo project, but until today I always had a better idea for the photo of the day. I knew the sign would be there when I needed it so I waited until I ran out of ideas. Today proved to be that day. :) This sign is posted outside a junk yard. I wonder if anyone was watching the security camera and saw me taking photos. :)

Essential Oils -- Day 282

Here is what my sister, Abbie, has been learning about lately. This is the new supply that was waiting when we came home from our trip. :)

Pond and Dock -- Day 281

This is the view from our "lakeside" campsite this weekend. :) Doesn't it just look so peaceful? The crisp fall mornings were great. Too bad I didn't really have time to sit and enjoy them. I was too busy getting up and going so I wouldn't miss breakfast. :)

Three Friends -- Day 280 -- Winner of Viewer's Choice Poll

This is Gracie, Gideon and Luke. This conference definitely wasn't short on cute kiddos. :) Amber had these three outside on Sunday afternoon as most people were packing up and leaving. I went out with my camera and had to get a shot of the three of them.

Arm Wrestling -- Day 279

You can't get a group of guys together without an arm wrestling match happening at some point. Jared and Tyler were pretty evenly matched and sat there grimacing for a long time. The best part of it was watching little Gracie's face as she watched the boys battle it out. She thought they were there simply as entertainment for her. She grinned the whole time. :)

Sleepy Boy -- Day 278

How could I resist the cuteness!!! Our road trip that I mentioned in the last post took us to a conference in Illinois. After a long drive and getting settled in we enjoyed some singing and preaching. Our little friend Matthew fell asleep at the beginning of the evening session which started around 7pm and slept on the floor until his big brother carried him to bed around 11:30 that night. He even slept through the lively music and English Country dancing. :)

Packed and Ready -- Day 277

Tonight we packed the trailer for a road trip. We are very thankful to Dad's employers, who let us borrow their trailer. Comes in handy when we have to take a lot of stuff with us. In this photo it really doesn't look like much, but trust me it is. There are 3 tents lots of blankets, suitcases, sleeping bags, etc, etc.

Sibling Trio -- Day 276

Tonight we headed out to see our friends, The MacDonalds, in concert. For the last two years they were in our area for several days and they stayed with us, but this year they were only in the area for one concert before they continued on their way. We were so glad we were able to see them even for just a few hours. :) I love how this photo turned out. I zoomed out as I took the photo. I don't remember if I did it on purpose or not, but I like the effect it had on the photo. :)
Here Peter, Carol, and Vincent are singing "The Touch of the Master's Hand."

John 2:9 -- Day 275

Today, my sister found something interesting as she was reading in the New Testament. :) Before you go getting out your Bible and concordance, please know that this verse did not stand out to her for it's spiritual insight, although I'm sure it has some. :) Over the years as email, internet and online social networking have become popular, so have "smileys." :D If you look closely at the punctuation in this verse you will soon notice that it contains two appropriately placed "smileys". :D We all thought that was funny especially since not to long ago, no one would have even noticed a frown and a wink in the bible. ;)
