Fireworks -- Day 226
I've done it! I've finally figured out how to capture an image of fireworks!!! It was actually simple once I read a tutorial I found via Pinterest. I've tried for years to get them right, but only had one chance a year. Ever since the Joplin Blasters baseball team moved to town I've been meaning to get down to the stadium to capture their Friday Fireworks show. Kinda fun to see fireworks on a regular basis throughout the summer since we only live 4 blocks from the stadium. Tonight I hopped in my car and took tripod and camera and set up to shoot just minutes before the first blast.

The Lodge -- Day 310
Today I left my camera at the camp, when I went to work, just in case
Amber needed it. I think this was the first time I've been without a
camera for most of a day while doing my project. Since I was at work all
day without my camera I had to capture a photo when I got back to camp.
I took a few random shots in the evening, but didn't really like them,
so just before climbing into my bed in my cozy cabin, Amber suggested a
night photo. Back out in the cold I went and this is what I found.

Prettiness at Grandma's House -- Day 203
I went to visit my Grandma today and the sun was hitting her living room decorations just perfectly. :)

Clouds Moving In -- Day 43
Today started out sunny, but as evening approached, the clouds started rolling in. I caught this image as the blue was almost ready to disappear completely. I had a little fun with this image after I got it on the computer. I realized I really need to clean my lens/filter/mirror (or something?), so I took off a few smudges that were "on" the clouds. I also adjusted the contrast so that the photo showed a little more of the texture in the clouds and the color of the sky. I also removed four power lines. Can you tell?
Maybe it will snow. Morning will tell. :D

What a Bright Idea -- Day 341
Since photos of toys are involved in the business, there is a light box at the warehouse, which I thought would be fun to put to use tonight after I was off work. :) There was a lightbulb available, so it became my subject. I also took a picture of a miniature cow, carmal corn and cd's, but I really liked the light bulb the best. :)

Bokeh Lights -- Day 328 -- Winner of Viewer's Choice Poll
"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas....." Thanksgiving Day is over and now it's time to get into the Christmas spirit. :) When I got home from work today (part of the Christmas spirit around here includes working with Dad in the warehouse shipping die-cast models all over the world) Hannah had Christmas music playing and across the street the neighbors had decorated their outside Christmas tree. So I decided to feature the lights on the tree on my blog. I liked how this bokeh shot turned out.

Bokeh Smarties -- Day 260 -- Winner of Viewer's Choice Poll
I decided to try my hand at some bokeh lighting. Instead of just using the normal aperture, I cut a heart out of construction paper and put it over my lens to create heart shapes in the background. The bokeh hearts are a string of Christmas lights piled on the floor in background. I didn't want to just do a boring picture of lights so I added Smarties into the foreground. I ♥ Smarties!

Lightbulb -- Day 185
Again I nearly got to the end of the day without a photo. I was going to make up something to take a photo of, then Daniel called me my attention to a spider spinning it's web outside our back door. I tried to get a shot of it, but then our cat escaped outside after her curfew (we have to give her a curfew or she disappears and we can't find her until morning), so the spider got disturbed by me trying to sneak under it to retrieve the cat. So I instead decided to photograph the light bulb on our back porch. Exciting isn't it. :)

Dusk -- Day 104
I spent the day working in the kitchen and didn't get a chance to take a photo until the sun had already sunk below the horizon. I figured it was a good time to get out my tripod and shoot some long exposures. I love how this one turned out. I like the blue of the sky and the amber colored street light. The moon (just left of the flare from the street light) was really pretty too, although this photo doesn't do it justice. I love going outside at dusk on a cool evening, it brings back many memories for me. :)

Candlelight -- Day 66 -- Winner of Viewer's Choice Poll
We had our first spring thunder storm tonight. The lights flickered a time or two and my youngest brother gathered up flashlights, oil lantern, candles, matches and lighters. I put them to good use for a photo shoot. I used matches to spell out POWER in anticipation of a power outage. We didn't end up having to use them, but sometime soon, I'm sure they'll all be put to use.
