Mullein Along the Tracks -- Day 297

Just in case anyone was getting tired of orange, red, gold and brown, I thought I'd throw in a little green. :)

Oncoming Train -- Day 264

Tonight I was lucky and was at the right spot at the right time with my camera. :) This photo isn't nearly as dramatic as it looks. :) Should I tell my secrets or just let everyone believe I was dumb enough to stand on the tracks this close to an oncoming train?

Ok, the train wasn't moving. I was using my zoom lens, and I had two sisters watching nearby to tell me if the train moved even a fraction of an inch. This was taken just after another train had passed on the other track, so this train would have derailed itself, if it had moved before switching the track. I was playing it safe. :)

Ben on the Rails -- Day 245

We took a walk this morning and I captured Ben balancing on the rails. This track was so straight and so long. It just disappeared in the distance of the Canadian Plains

Fall Colors -- Day 310 -- Winner of Viewer's Choice Poll

The colors are so pretty! I can't get over how much I love fall. I noticed this scene on my way home from work. I cross this railroad track every day, but today the sun was just right and caught my attention (probably has to do with the time change, normally the sun wouldn't have been so  low in the sky). In this shot the sun had gone behind a cloud, but I liked how it turned out better than the ones I got with the full sun. I love the combination of colors. Red, Yellow and Green.

A Boy and His Dog -- Day 223

Today Amber, Ben, Annie and I made a trip to Dillon's to pick up a few ingredients for lunch on Sunday. Because we took Annie and didn't want to leave her in the hot car, Amber ran in the grocery store while the Ben and I stayed with Annie outside. Dillon's is next to a railroad track and we enjoyed watching a train go by and collecting pop cans along the edge of the parking lot. At one point we noticed pigeons up on the tracks so Ben and Annie took after them. I had gotten my camera out to take a picture of the pigeons and after they chased them away Ben and Annie posed for me. It was so nice. It was all Ben's idea and he got Annie to sit and got down there beside her. If I had asked him to do it I don't think the photo would have turned out so well. :)
