Apricots -- Day 151

Apricots are ripening! Got home and found our guest room floor covered in apricots. The brothers had been picking them. :) the last time I featured an apricot on this blog was in 2010 when I did my first 365 project. That year the apricots weren't ready until the end of June, this year we are a month ahead. :)

The Names of God -- Day 150

My sister loves gladiolas, and this calligraphy of the names of God is beautiful! They are even prettier together. :) A friend of mine did the calligraphy and prints of it are available at www.framinglifephotography
.com/calligraphy if you are interested. :)

Shady Woods -- Day 149

I captured this shady wooded view as I walked down our "Rails to Trails" path. It looks so cool and peaceful! Wish we could have explored, but all that underbrush is rampant in Poison Ivy. :)

Another Purple Flower -- Day 147

I need to learn some flower names. :) This cool looking flower is growing in our yard and I decided to try out my flash at dusk. Turned out a lot better than I thought it would. I like the effect. :)

The Flag is Still There -- Day 143

A year ago today a large section of our town was leveled by a tornado. Within days flags flew all over town, flags were propped among the rubble, flown from cranes and bucket trucks and fire engines. Today some of those flags still fly. This particular flag reminds me of the people in Joplin. A year later it is still blowing in the wind even though it only has half of it's stars and and a few partial stripes left. The people of Joplin, may have had their houses and businesses destroyed, and they may have lost family members or friends, but as time goes by they are rebuilding and healing. They are still flying. Even though this flag desperately needs to be replaced, I think it tells a story of this last year here in Joplin. A story of heat, wind, rain, and sun beating down on a swath of emptiness that used to be full of shady neighborhoods. A place that has changed forever. But there is new growth. Leaves are growing around the flag and to me that represents all the new growth in Joplin. Lots of houses and businesses are already built back up and it's neat to see all the new trees that have been planted. I wonder how it will all look in 10 years.

Tiger Lily -- Day 142

Just realized today that the numbers are off on my photos. I need help keeping them in line. :) Now I've got a couple weeks of posts that have to be fixed cause I had two of the same day a while back. Oops!

Dry and Cracked -- Day 141

Visited the old Joann's parking lot today. Took a few pictures of the progress of rebuilding along Rangeline Rd. Found this dried up tire track and thought it was pretty cool looking. :)

Three Brothers -- Day 139

Today we made a trip to the park. What a fun time we had. The boys had a great time and took good naps when we got home. :) We convinced Luke, Mark and Matt to try out the great climbing tree and they sat perched on a big branch as long as Amber was there to assure them that she wouldn't let them fall (She's hiding behind them). :D

Twin Bond -- Day 138

Mark and Luke each have their own bed, but lately they've been ending up in the same bed at nap time. I peeked in at them and loved how Luke had his hand over Mark's. :) Couldn't help but take a picture. :D They even slept through the flash.

Box Turtle -- Day 137

Found this guy (or gal) on the road to work. Amber and I stopped and picked him up for the kids to see. The boys loved him! Poor turtle probably didn't have the best day of his life. :) He seemed happy to be free again when we returned him to his area of town. :)

Cherry Pie and Ice-Cream -- Day 136

Yum! I love Cherry Pie! Tonight my baker sister brought home a pie that she didn't sell at the market. :) The plan was to take a photo of my slice, but when I came in from a walk Mom had dished up the pie and my ice-cream was starting to melt, so it wasn't picturesque at all. I ate my dessert and decided to find another subject. Then my sister came home from the store and her pie had been saved and her ice-cream was fresh from the freezer. Yay, another chance at a photo of pie. :)

Window Kids -- Day 129

I posted a photo of Vanessa seeing me off after work a few months ago, and tonight I post again. This time her brothers joined her, as they often do. :) My car wouldn't start so as I waited for my Dad to bring me gas (turns out that was the only problem), the kiddos kept me company through the window. I could have gone inside to chat with them, but after a day on the job I decided to relax in the car. :D

Daisy Field -- Day 123

On my way home from work, I stopped to take pictures in a field of daisies. :) I waded through tall grass to get to them, but it was well worth it. :) Here are just a few of them. :)
